Lois Boyle has been a Court Reporter since 1981 when she graduated from Hagerstown Business College, Hagerstown, MD with a degree in Court Reporting and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Strayer University, Newport News, VA in 2006. She is a Registered Professional Reporter and Registered Merit Reporter. She is the owner of Boyle Reporting & Captioning Services, LLC. She has served as Director and Treasurer of Virginia Court Reporters Association and was elected President of Virginia Court Reporters Association in March 2014.
Mrs. Boyle began providing CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) for Deaf/Hard of Hearing persons in 2007 and became involved in their advocacy efforts to obtain access to performing arts theaters and currently provide open captioning at performing arts theaters. Working with other organizations such as the Hearing Loss Association Virginia Beach Chapter, the Norfolk Mayor’s Commission for Persons with Disabilities and Faith Inclusion Network, Mrs. Boyle became increasingly aware of the lack of accommodation at public venues for persons with hearing and vision loss.
Mrs. Boyle established Access Virginia to provide open captioning and audio description for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Blind/Vision Impaired at public venues. By offering these accommodations, theaters can also gain new audiences, bring former audiences back to the theater, as well as enhance and provide the most enjoyable experience for current audience members.
