The sole purpose of a band-aide or bandage is to bind a wound or protect it from an injured part of the body. They come in all different sizes depending on how big your wound is. Wounds come with all levels of pain. It can be little as a paper cut or hard as a stab wound. Once you have a wound from an injury, the healing process needs to begin once you start taking care of the wound. The body forms new collagen fibers to mend the damage, resulting in a scar. The new scar tissue will have a different texture and quality than the surrounding tissue. Scars form after a wound is completely healed.
Interesting that a scar is formed after healing takes place right? Life has a way of leaving some huge scars that we tend to cover with bandages even when its healed. We think we have healed from those wounds after removing the bandage but truth is, some of those wounds won’t heal on there own without some help. I use to try and self heal by blocking out the pain or ignoring the fact that i’m hurt. I would take my attention off the pain but replacing it with something I enjoy as a temporary fix until i’m ready to face the pain. Often I would become so numb to pain because of how I choose to deal with it until someone presses the right button to reopen those wounds that still cause pain.
Treating an old wound that on the outside appears to be healed is very tough. You have to break through layers of skin to get to the root of the problem. That sound painful right? It is because you have all sorts of emotions and feelings going through your mind when hearing you have to re-open a wound in order for it to properly heal. It sounds simple because you want to get ride of all that pain but the process of truly healing is what isn’t so simple. Imagine your entire body covered in scars that still cause pain but appear to be healed.
I had to take that chance of re-opening painful scars to truly be delivered from my past and start the true healing process. It is still a PROCESS TIL THIS DAY and it won’t happen over night. Healing for each scar is different based on the level of pain endured. So understand it will cause you to have to Forget and Forgive! My walk with Christ has helped me deal with this pain, healing and forgiving. 1 Peter 5; 7 Casting the whole of your care all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
Forgiving the ones who caused you pain or caused a wound in your life is important. If you don’t forgive you will become enslaved or imprisoned to that person. I wanted to become totally free. Freedom is a state of mind. Freedom can only come about naturally, not through wishing, wanting, longing. Nor will you find it by creating an image of what you think it is. To come upon it the mind has to learn to look at life, which is a vast movement, without the bondage of time, for freedom lies beyond the field of consciousness.
Having a good support system in place is key. Not everyone can help you or speak into your situation. I had to go to someone who was unbiased to my situation. Sometimes getting help from someone who doesn’t know you is best. I had friends and family who just couldn’t understand my pain or how things really made me feel. It would make me more upset and frustrated at times because they weren’t helping me. Understand that there are some old scars that will seem like will never heal. Trust God and the process that comes with it. Remember the serenity Prayer and remain positive.
