On 1’s debut episode will feature powerhouse Congresswoman Maxine Waters of California.
“I heard a lot of feedback from viewers and followers asking for a platform where they could keep the conversation going beyond a commercial break or 140 characters,” said Rye. “On 1 will give me the opportunity to engage with people from every corner of the country, and allow us to honestly address the pressing political, racial, and pop culture questions of the day together.”
Known for her frank analysis of the legislative landscape and political climate, Rye shot to national prominence during the 2016 presidential election. Through her commentary on CNN and NPR, she was often the sole young woman of color expert at the table.
Rye served as the Executive Director and General Counsel to the Congressional Black Caucus from 2010-2012. In her role as Executive Director, Rye was tasked with developing the overall legislative and political strategy for the Caucus. Prior to working for the CBC, the Seattle native served as Senior Advisor and Counsel to the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security under the leadership of Congressman Bennie G. Thompson. Rye is a graduate of the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law.
‘On 1 with A. Rye’ will be available on iTunes, TIDAL, SoundCloud, and Spotify.
